Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko has been praised for his standout performance during the Gunners’ victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park over the weekend. The Ukrainian international was named in Garth Crooks’ BBC Premier League Team of the Week, receiving glowing remarks from the former Tottenham Hotspur forward.

Crooks singled out Zinchenko for his instrumental role in almost every Arsenal move that resulted in a chance, hailing his versatility in operating as a left-back or midfielder. Zinchenko’s “lethal left foot” was also a talking point for the BBC SPORT pundit, who praised the 26-year-old for seizing the opportunity to score and setting up Arsenal’s victory over Villa.

“Zinchenko was involved in almost every Arsenal move that resulted in a chance – he was literally popping up everywhere. Arsenal are having an extraordinary season and so is the Ukrainian.”

Since his arrival at the Emirates in the summer of 2022 from Manchester City, Zinchenko has been nothing short of impressive. Crooks describes the player’s performances as “outstanding,” highlighting the significant impact he has had on the team’s current success in the Premier League.

“Since he arrived at the Emirates his performances have been outstanding. Zinchenko had an opportunity to use his lethal left foot earlier in the game but, for some reason, chose not to.

“However, when he did let fly, the ball arrowed past Emiliano Martinez in the Villa goal and set up the Gunners for a famous victory. It was, without doubt, Arsenal’s best away performance this season.”

Arsenal’s win over Villa marks another important victory for the North London club, as they continue to build momentum in their pursuit of the title this season. Crooks commends the Gunners’ “extraordinary” campaign, and points out that Zinchenko’s contribution has been a key factor in their recent form.

Overall, it is without a doubt that Zinchenko’s performance over the weekend was one of his best, and arguably the Gunners’ most impressive away display this season.
