Arsenal would likely Reignite their long interest on Leicester city midfielder Youri Tielemans as they seek to strengthen their midfield strength.

According to reports on Monday, Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The deal is believed to be in its final stages, with Mudryk having already agreed in principle to join the Gunners. It remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal will pursue any additional signings in the current transfer window, as they have previously been linked with interest in Leicester City’s Tielemans.

Speculation has indicated that Arsenal’s interest in Tielemans has not dissipated, despite recent rumors linking him with a move to Newcastle United. A source told GiveMeSport that the price for Tielemans “hasn’t been right” for Arsenal in the past, leading to the assumption that they would wait for him to become a free agent.

However, the possibility of Newcastle making a move for the midfielder could potentially force Arsenal to make a decision on whether or not they are willing to pay a fee for Tielemans.

Tielemans’ contract with Leicester is set to expire in the summer, which could make him available at a discounted price in the January transfer window.

The Belgium international, who has been recently praised by his manager Brendan Rodgers as an “outstanding player” and “one of Europe’s top midfielders,” has impressive statistics in various categories among his positional peers in Europe’s top five leagues over the past year, including being in the 87th percentile for average blocks, 85th percentile for shot-creating actions, 84th for tackles, and 83rd percentile for passes attempted per game (FBRef).

At just 25 years old, Tielemans still has room to improve and could be a valuable addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad alongside Mudryk.
