According to reports from Italian publication Gazetta dello Sport , Premier League side Arsenal have entered into talks with Juventus over a potential transfer for American midfielder Weston McKennie. The 24-year-old, who joined the Serie A giants in 2020, has reportedly caught the attention of several clubs, including Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth, Fulham, Borussia Dortmund, and AS Monaco.

It is believed that Juventus are open to offers between €20m (£17.5m) and €25m (£22m) plus add-ons for McKennie. However, it seems that Arsenal are currently leading the race for the player, with Edu, the club’s technical director, said to have held initial talks with McKennie’s agent.

McKennie has impressed in his debut campaign with Juventus, making 34 appearances in Serie A and scoring five goals, registering two assists, and creating five big chances. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with the American international proving to be a key player for the club.

His statistics in the 2020/21 season further highlight his ability as a midfield player. He averaged 0.9 shots, 0.8 key passes, and 0.6 dribbles per game, with a success rate of 83%. He also made an average of one tackle, 0.8 interceptions, 0.7 clearances and winning 2.6 duels per match, with a success rate of 43%.

With the January transfer window now open, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to secure the signing of McKennie. However, one thing is for certain, the American midfielder’s talent and potential make him a valuable asset for any club looking to strengthen their midfield.

The 24 years old midfielder was an Intergral part of the USMNT in Qatar 2022 world cup.
