Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a move for Real Sociedad’s midfielder Martin Zubimendi as a potential alternative to Moises Caicedo.
According to a report from The Times , Arsenal is now considering signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi as a cheaper alternative to Moises Caicedo. The report claims that Zubimendi could be picked up for £53 million in the January transfer window, £7 million less than the club’s rejected bid for Caicedo.
Zubimendi, 23, is a deep-lying central midfielder who possesses terrific technical ability, energy, pace, and stamina. He has been fairly robust throughout his career to date and has the potential to be a world-class player.
Brighton is reportedly asking for around £75 million for Caicedo, making Zubimendi a more cost-effective option for the Gunners. Additionally, Zubimendi is reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates this month.
While Caicedo should be Arsenal’s top transfer target, Zubimendi is a close second. Signing him for £53 million would be a fantastic piece of business in the long run for the Gunners. The question remains whether he has the physical capabilities to succeed in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be able to get a deal for Zubimendi over the line before Tuesday’s deadline.
