Following Bukayo Saka’s missed penalty in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Sunday, team captain Martin Odegaard reacted to the incident.
Arsenal’s captain Martin Odegaard has commented on Bukayo Saka’s penalty miss during the recent 2-2 Premier League draw against West Ham United.
Despite Gabriel Jesus and Odegaard giving the Gunners an early 2-0 advantage, Said Berahma’s first-half penalty helped reduce the Hammers’ arrears. In the second half, Saka had the opportunity to restore the two-goal lead with a penalty, but unfortunately missed the target.
Arsenal was made to pay for the missed opportunity when Jared Bowen found the equalizer minutes later. Reflecting on Saka’s miss, Odegaard expressed his support for his teammate and emphasized the importance of solidarity in both victory and defeat, stating, “These things happen; he has been brilliant all season and been clinical from the spot. But today was not the day for him. We win and lose together.”
After the draw against West Ham, Arsenal is now gearing up to face Southampton at their home ground, the Emirates.
