Mikel Arteta expressed his contentment and deep gratitude for his role at Arsenal, dismissing rumors linking him to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
In an exclusive interview with Marca, Mikel Arteta has reaffirmed his dedication to Arsenal, expressing his happiness and immense gratitude for his current position amidst ongoing rumors linking him to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Arteta, who took the reins at Arsenal in December 2019, led the Gunners to an impressive second-place finish in the recently concluded 2022-23 Premier League campaign. His managerial prowess has not gone unnoticed, with PSG reportedly eyeing him as a potential successor to Christophe Galtier.
When asked about the alleged interest from the French giants, Arteta tactfully avoided direct comment on the speculation, instead choosing to emphasize his contentment at the Emirates Stadium. The Spanish tactician firmly stated that he has no desire to seek new horizons at this stage of his career.
“I can only say that I am happy at Arsenal. I feel loved and valued by our owners, Stan and Josh Kroenke, and I am fully committed to this club. I have a lot to accomplish here, and I am tremendously grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Arsenal,”
Arteta affirmed.
While Arteta remains committed to Arsenal, he did not dismiss the possibility of returning to his homeland, Spain, to manage in the future. The allure of managing prestigious clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid was subtly mentioned as potential future destinations.
“Spain is my country. After spending many years away, I believe there might come a time when returning to La Liga and exploring new experiences could be an option. However, for now,” Arteta added, leaving the door slightly ajar for a potential homecoming.
Mikel Arteta will be looking to get his side ready for the next season with proper reinforcements if they are to go toe to toe with Manchester City for the title and also have a good run in the UEFA Champions League.
