Antonio Conte has resisted the temptation to rush Dejan Kulusevski back into the team that will face Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that Dejan Kulusevski will not be part of the squad that will face Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday in the Champions League as he doesn’t want to risk him.
Kulusevski has been a huge plus in Conte’s squad and has featured seven times in the Premier League so far and has notched one goal and three assists.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is set on missing what could have been his third Champions League game this season after Conte decided against rushing him back into the team.
“I think Deki is almost ready. Yesterday he had an MRI and it was really, really positive but at the same time, I spoke to the doctors and they said tomorrow we can have 5% of risk. I don’t want to take risk because Deki is an important player for us.
“It would be stupid. We need patience and we’ve faced this situation well without him. Against Everton I think he will be able to play.”
Antonio Conte also confirmed that the Sweden international trained with the team this week but that wasn’t enough to convince the Italian boss otherwise.
“Deki started to have a little part of the session with us but will not be available tomorrow. Lucas is available despite having only two, three sessions, but tomorrow he is with us on the bench. No other problems,” Conte added.
