Ander Herrera has claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserved more than the credit he got whilst at Manchester United as the manager.

Herrera worked with Solskjaer for months at Man United before he left the Red Devils as a free agent in 2019. For the record, the Norwegian tactician wanted Herrera to stay put at Old Trafford as he was one of the performing midfielders at the club at the time but the Spaniard left after United failed to reach an agreement with his camp.

The Spanish midfielder may have spent a few months under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he has described the Norwegian as one of the ‘best’ people he ever came across in football.

Speaking about his experience under Solskjaer, he told MU: “He [Solskjaer] is one of the best people I have met in football. He was a legend but he was so humble to have a relationship with the players.

“He was always ready to listen to what you had to say to help the team.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left Manchester United in November 2021 after he failed to put a stop to Man United’s run of poor form.

Before his sacking, the club legend finished 3rd and 2nd in his first two full seasons at Manchester United and lost the Europa League cup on penalties to Villarreal.

Many United fans think the Norwegian coach set the club backward, thanks to a couple of his signings, but Herrera believes the former United boss doesn’t get the maximum respect he deserves.

Herrera added: “For his work at the club, he didn’t have the credit he deserves, honestly, or he didn’t have the success that he deserved, because he was doing a great job at the club.”
