Alpha Tauri technical director Jody Eggington has warned driver Yuki Tsunoda to avoid incidents with his teammate Pierre Gasly in future races after the British Grand Prix.
It will be recalled that Tsunoda’s overtaking attempt resulted in contact, which also injured Gasly as a result. The damage sustained by Gasly’s car forced him to withdraw from the race, with Tsunoda finishing last.
It’s a real shame that we lost likely points finish on a weekend when the team and drivers worked so hard to extract the maximum and get the cars into a position to fight for points.
Contact between teammates is never good, but in this case, with both cars suffering significant damage and one having to come off, there was no turning back.
As a team we will sit down and have the necessary discussions as Yuki’s actions were not the best and should be avoided,” Racingnews365 quoted Eggington as saying.
