In a highly-anticipated clash between Manchester City and Real Madrid, former City legend Sergio Aguero has raised doubts over his ex-manager Pep Guardiola’s tactical choices. Aguero, who closely observed the match, expressed his surprise at Guardiola’s decision to overlook the inclusion of Julián Álvarez during the encounter.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, a result that is generally considered favorable for Manchester City as they head into the second leg at home. After Madrid’s opening goal, courtesy of a sensational strike from Vinicius Jr., Kevin De Bruyne came to the rescue for City, firing a thunderous shot to restore parity in the 67th minute.

Despite the equalizer and ample time left on the clock to snatch a victory, Guardiola opted against making any substitutions throughout the entire game, leaving many fans perplexed by his lack of tactical adjustments given the array of talent at his disposal.

Aguero, known for his frankness, questioned Guardiola’s decision, stating,

“What I don’t understand is why he didn’t bring on Julián. It’s puzzling to me, but well, it’s Pep.”

The Argentine striker further expressed his belief that Julián Álvarez should feature prominently in City’s lineup, asserting,

“If it were up to me, I would play Julián in nearly every game because we need his dynamism and spark.”

The focus now shifts to the crucial second leg, set to take place at the Etihad Stadium next Wednesday, as both Manchester City and Real Madrid vie for a spot in the prestigious Champions League final.
