Henrik Stenson came into the championship with some impressive previous form at The Open, as pointed out by Gibbs in his preview. And after playing a very solid first two rounds, the big Swede, alongside American Phil Mickelson, led the field a merry dance during rounds three and four.
It was clear at the start of the final round that it was a simple two-horse race between Stenson and Mickelson and, much to the delight of our Editor-in-Chief, Stenson kept his nerve to put in what was arguably his best ever round to win by a three shot margin (-20), recording his first ever major championship victory.
