Having returned from the winter break as a rejuvenated team, Mönchengladbach will be looking to move up the table as they travel to Weser-Stadion to visit a Werder Bremen team who continue to concede far too many goals.

Gladbach treated their fans to the sort of performance that has defined their success over the last few seasons and, with that win behind them, the visitors are fancied to follow up in this fixture. The two bets to go for ahead of this one are ‘Gladbach to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ and ‘Gladbach to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’.

It’s fair to say that the first half of the season really was one to forget for Mönchengladbach. They failed to maintain a position towards the top of the table and limped out of the Champions League without ever really putting up a fight. However, the arrival as Dieter Hecking seems to have had a positive effect and the Rhineland club are now unbeaten in four competitive matches under the German.

Having scored six goals in their last two league matches, the visitors look as though they’re re-finding their attacking form and are once again causing numerous problems for opposition defences, especially on the counter. Against a Bremen side who’ve conceded goals cheaply all season long, such a return to form in front of goal is a real plus.

As was the case last season, Werder Bremen’s issues continue to stem from an inability to defend properly. The hosts have kept just one clean sheet in 19 league matches and have conceded no less than 41 goals – unsurprisingly this is more than any other Bundesliga team. They might have fared slightly better in front of their own fans than on the road, but Die Werderaner’s record at Weser-Stadion, which reads three wins, one draw and six losses, certainly isn’t anything to shout about.

It is certainly worth mentioning that Gladbach haven’t exactly thrived on the road this season, but it’s perhaps unfair to judge them on the form of their previous manager. Hecking seems to have sparked a revival while scoring three goals (and claiming three points) in their first away match under the new boss was a promising start.

With players such as Stindl, Hazard and Raffael, Hecking has plenty of attacking talent at his disposal and it would appear as though he’s already starting to make the most of it. With this in mind, it really would be no surprise if the visitors continued to thrive against a Bremen side who’ve conceded at least two goals on 13 occasions this season.
