Wales

Second EURO in Wales’ history, the first was in 2016 where they reached the semi-finals and were eliminated by Portugal. It can be said that Wales was the surprise package along with Iceland in that EURO.

The Welsh are looking to build on the generation of players that has taken them to two EUROs, captained by Gareth Bale.

In the last meeting between the two countries, in 2011, the Welsh won 2-0.

Switzerland

Fifth EURO participation for the Swiss. In 2016 they reached the round of 16.

The Swiss squad has a mix of veteran players who know how this type of tournament operates, such as Shaqiri and Xhaka, and young players with a lot of quality who have a great future, such as Embolo and Zakaria.

Key Stats

  • Two wins, two losses and one draw for Wales in their last five games
  • Two consecutive games without scoring goals for Wales
  • Six consecutive wins for Switzerland
  • Five of the last five games of Switzerland ended with over 2.5 total match goals

Wales vs Switzerland Predictions

We think it will be an even match, with no clear favourite. But it is true that we tip the scales a little more in favour of Switzerland, as in collective quality we think they are a little better and as we have said previously, they have many players with experience in this type of tournament who know how to handle situations, which may affect Wales who have a younger and less experienced squad in general.

In the case of these teams, both have an attacking style of play, especially Wales, whose players play mostly in England, and whose style is characterised by a collective attacking game. So we think that there could be plenty of space for counter attacks by both teams and that the match could have more than two goals.
