These two teams suffered difficult starts to the season but have now recovered to win their most recent matches and so confidence will be relatively high in both camps.

After demolishing Milton Keynes Dons by a 4-1 scoreline in the League Cup, Swansea took advantage of Crystal Palace’s poor form to record a victory in their final match before the international break; putting them in 13th place.

The Swans’ Goals Against column does not look particularly good with four goals conceded in three games, however, it is important to remember that all of these came in one match against Manchester United so, as a matter of fact, two clean sheets in three matches does not make bad reading at all. In terms of the final third, Swansea managed to re-sign Wilfried Bony on deadline day and will hope he can recapture the form which made Manchester City pay £28m for him back in 2015.

Paul Clement’s side’s only home match of the campaign so far was that aforementioned 4-0 loss against Manchester United, however, prior to that, they had an excellent record at the Liberty Stadium with just one defeat in their previous eight league matches.

Newcastle put in a superb performance to dispatch struggling West Ham last time out, however, there was more transfer frustration for the Toon Army on deadline day as they failed to get any new signings over the line.

It was the perfect performance at both ends of the pitch in that match against West Ham with three goals scored and a clean sheet to go with it. This clean sheet was Newcastle’s first of the season in four competitive matches. However, it will be a different scenario going up against a confident Swansea side, as opposed to a West Ham team whose confidence looks shot to pieces.

Rafa Benitez’s men lost their only away match of the season so far – at Huddersfield. Having said that, they very good on their travels towards the end of the last campaign with just two defeats in their final ten league matches away from St James’s Park. Furthermore, you cannot underestimate the confidence boost they will take from that match against West Ham.

Historically, this match has contained plenty of goals with two or more being scored in each of the last six meetings between the two. Given the fact that these two teams are so full of confidence, I think this tradition will continue on Sunday. Over 2.5 Goals Total at 127/100 looks good value.
