League leaders Manchester United travel to Swansea City on Saturday lunchtime in hope of extending their winning start to the season.

Swansea just about stayed in the Premier League last term and survival is undoubtedly the aim this time around as well.

The biggest news coming out of the South Wales club this week has been the departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for a fee of £45m. The Icelander was key to much of the Swans’ attacking play and was the league’s third-highest assist maker last season with 13 to his name. The former Spurs man will be hard to replace but, from Swansea’s point of view, that rather large transfer fee can now be reinvested back into the squad – although it is obviously too late for this match against United. Swansea were actually pretty good at the back towards the latter stages of the 2016/17 campaign and kept three clean sheets in their final five outings. They kept up this good form at the back with a clean sheet on the opening day at Southampton. However, facing United is a different kettle of fish.

Paul Clement’s side were brilliant on home turf in their resurgence last term and suffered just one defeat in their final eight matches at the Liberty Stadium – keeping clean sheets in half of those games.

Manchester United currently sit top of the Premier League after thrashing West Ham United 4-0 in their opener at Old Trafford. After a disappointing 2016/17 campaign, United will no doubt be targeting the title this year.

United’s problem last year was their lack of goals but they have certainly addressed that issue this summer with the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Everton. The Belgian got off to a flying start at his new club with two goals on his debut against West Ham. Defensively, there were never really any problems for Jose Mourinho’s side last season as they conceded just 29 league goals – the second-best record in the division. Needless to say, they continued this good record with a clean sheet against the Hammers last weekend.

The Red Devils were generally very good on their travels last term and at one point went on a ten-match unbeaten run. Although they failed to win any of their final four away from Old Trafford, you get the feeling that this is a completely different United side to last season.

Unsurprisingly, United are the overwhelming favourites here and it would be pretty foolhardy to back anything other than an away win here. However, it has been a bit difficult to find any value on the market but I think I have found a gem in Manchester United to Win to Nil at Evens. The Red Devils looked unstoppable last week and the loss of Sigurdsson means Swansea have little attacking threat at the moment so United should take full advantage.
