Stuttgart vs Mainz Predictions and Betting Tips
Stuttgart vs Mainz Key Stats:
- Stuttgart have both scored and conceded in each of their last six Bundesliga fixtures.
- Neither the hosts nor the visitors have kept a clean sheet in either of their last six league matches.
- 67% of Stuttgart’s home fixtures have seen at least three goals go in.
Hosts out of sorts
For Stuttgart, the last few weeks haven’t exactly been pleasurable. Friday’s hosts suffered defeat at the hands of Dortmund last weekend, and although losing by just a single goal wasn’t exactly embarrassing, such a defeat did little to help their predicament. They’ve now lost four of their last five, winning just one of their last eight.
Even at home, the Reds have found it tough to impose themselves, winning only two out of six, scoring more than once in just one of their last four at Mercedes-Benz Arena.
Ship being steadied
Unlike their hosts, who’ve floundered over the past month or so, the visitors have steadied the ship in recent weeks. Mainz arrives here off the back of four games without defeat, claiming two wins. Such a run of form has lifted Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men to eighth in the table, and they’re now just two points shy of the European spots.
Some of their away form doesn’t read too well, but they come here having won when last in action on the road, beating Arminia Bielefeld by two goals to one. This victory combined with the fact that they’re now unbeaten in four should mean that the visitors head to Stuttgart feeling upbeat.
Stuttgart vs Mainz Predictions
Both teams are likely to view this fixture as an opportunity to do well, especially from an offensive point of view. Neither side has been renowned for keeping teams quiet of late, with Stuttgart conceding in each of their last six, and Mainz conceding in each of their last six. What’s more, the visitors have kept just one clean sheet on their travels this season, while the hosts have recorded zero shutouts at home.
Given the clear defensive frailties of both, each attack should be primed to get on the front foot and thus a game devoid of goalmouth action seems unlikely. Add into the mix that four of Stuttgart’s last six at home have produce a glut of goals (three or more) and plumping for goals becomes an option that is hard to avoid.
