These two teams have done well so far this season and will both be looking to be at least in and around the European spots come the end of the campaign.

Many people associated with Spartak would disagree with my above statement due to the fact that they currently sit top of the Russian Premier League. However, we have seen potential Spartak title challenges quickly fade away in the past and I imagine the same will happen this year – the fact that the club lost their two matches, and three competitive matches, immediately before the recent international break is no doubt a sign of this inevitable collapse.

Manager Massimo Carrera’s hopes of getting his team’s title challenge back on track were dashed over the international break as their star man Quincy Promes picked up an injury during his time with the Netherlands squad. The Dutchman is no doubt the Red-White’s main man and is probably even the best player in the Netherlands squad right now. It says a lot when the best Dutch player is playing in the Russian Premier League – Dutch football is in a bit of a mess.

It is no coincidence that Spartak have lost their last three matches – Quincy went missing in all of those matches, showing just how important he is for them. Before getting injured, he had actually enjoyed a good international break with two goals against Belarus. However, unfortunately for Spartak, he will be unable to carry that form into the Russian Premier League now.

Rostov are not the sort of team you want to be facing when you are trying to break out of a losing streak. Dmitri Kirichenko’s men secured two vital victories before the international break against usual big boys Lokomotiv Moscow and CSKA Moscow – of course to nil in typical Rostov fashion.

People questioned whether they could repeat last season’s heroics of challenging for the title, particularly with the added distraction of Champions League football. However, Selmashi are fourth in the table and just three points off top spot.

Although you would say that all seems will at Olimp-2 with their position in the table, their away form has been awful as they have lost all three of their matches on the road this season. However, it must be noted that they only lost their last match away at Krasnodar thanks to a 94th minute penalty – but a loss is still a loss.

Perhaps being underdogs and going to a Spartak side who look vulnerable will see a change in fortunes for Rostov.

The bookies are heavily in favour of Spartak and are all giving prices around the Evens mark. This surprises me a lot considering they seem to have no idea what to do without the injured Quincy Promes in the team.

With Rostov’s away form being so bad, it is unsurprising that the odds are heavily against them for Saturday’s match – 3/1 is the best price. However, I think they could cause a surprise and do a job on Spartak.

Personally, i think a combination of Rostov’s solid defence and a lack of Promes for Spartak, points towards a promising result for the visitors here. At odds of 5/6 ‘Rostov Win/Draw Double Chance’ is well worth a bet.

If you fancy more of return but a similar style bet then go for ‘Rostov Draw No Bet’, at odds of 9/5.
