Premier League champions Leicester City will be hoping to revive their season when they travel to Spanish high-flyers Sevilla on Wednesday night.

Sevilla currently find themselves 3rd in La Liga and only two points off 2nd place Barcelona, however, even if they stay where they are and break that top three in Spain this season then they will have done remarkably well. Sevilla are of course used to winning in Europe and are five-time champions of the Europa League (more than anybody else), winning three of those titles in the last three seasons. They will be looking to transfer this success into Europe’s premier competition.

The attacking third has been where Sevilla have thrived most in La Liga this season with an average of two goals per game. Defensively they have not been that great with 28 conceded in 23 but this is still pretty reasonable. Additionally, the Red Whites only let in three goals in their Champions League group campaign.

Jorge Sampaoli’s men have been fantastic at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and have the second-best home record in La Liga having taken 28 points from just 11 matches, losing just once to Barcelona. Furthermore, they lost just once at home in Champions League Group H in 2016.

Whilst Sevilla are flying high, Leicester City are having a nightmare as they sit 17th in the Premier League and just one point above the relegation zone. The Premier League champions also suffered a loss to League One Millwall in the FA Cup at the weekend – I hope you followed my tip for that one!

The Champions League group stage was fantastic for Leicester but the knockout rounds is where the big boys come out to play and it really could make or break the Foxes’ season.

Claudio Ranieri’s side have been terrible in both departments lately and they have failed to score a Premier League goal in six matches whilst also failing to keep a clean sheet in their last nine in all competitions.

Away form was never fantastic for Leicester, even last season, and this season they have been abysmal on their travels, taking just three points from 13 matches away from the King Power Stadium.

The Champions League is supposedly where Leicester hope to find their form but unfortunately for them, I cannot see them doing anything against Sevilla. The Foxes’ confidence is really low right now and you have to fear for them against a Sevilla side who are going well. ‘Sevilla to Win to Nil’, at 11/10, is well worth a go. After all, the hosts won’t need to do much to keep out a lacklustre Leicester side.
