SD Eibar v Sevilla Betting Tips
Saturday’s early evening action in La Liga sees Eibar play host to current Europe League holders Sevilla. Both teams have made pleasing starts to the new campaign and find themselves sitting nicely inside the top 6.
The promising opening to the new season that has been enjoyed by both of these sides has been largely down to a combination of efficient attacking and reasonably decent defending. The pair both stand with positive goal differences and confidence is likely to be high as they look to continue their good form. However, punters shouldn’t be expecting an explosive classic here and goals are fancied to be in short supply at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.
The aforementioned Ipurua Municipal Stadium, with it’s tight pitch, small stands and overlooking flats/hillsides, is more in-keeping with the lower leagues of Spanish rather than the glitz and glamour of La liga, but, nonetheless, Eibar have used this to their advantage since being promoted to the top-flight in 2014. Teams fear coming to face Eibar in their own backyard and it is a well known fact that when you go to the Ipurua you’re in for a tough game. In the short time they’ve spent in La Liga (two seasons), the team from the city of less than 28,000 inhabitants have made a name for themselves as being hard to beat at home, they’re capable of keeping things tight and have been known to defend resolutely on a regular basis.
From a betting point of view, the bet to be on here is ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ at evens. There have been less than three goals in both of Eibar’s home matches so far this season, while three or more goals were scored in just one of Sevilla’s three competitive away matches this season (the last two both finished 0-0).
In addition, in the entirety of last season, three or more goals were scored in just 37% of Eibar’s home fixtures, while more than two goals hit the net in only 42% of Sevilla’s 19 away matches.
A tight game is expected, either one of these two teams could nick the three points, but will either do it in a high-scoring game? Doesn’t look likely and thus ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ at surprisingly good value (evens) is the way to go.
