Schalke will be looking to get over their agonising Europa League defeat on Sunday afternoon, but will need to be right on their game as they welcome an in-form Leipzig side.

Since earning promotion from the second division, Leipzig have thrived in the Bundesliga and currently only have league leaders Bayern Munich in front of them in the table. Sunday’s visitors have played some excellent attacking football during this campaign and have scored plenty of goals. Such a style has often lead to them being involved in high-scoring matches, especially on the road. With this in mind, the two bets that stand out here are ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ and ‘Over 1.5 Second Half Goals’.

Over the last few weeks, Leipzig have seemingly been powerless to stop the goals going at both ends when playing on the road with ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ landing in each of their last four and five of their last six. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side, as mentioned above, are very hard to keep tabs on when going forward and have scored seven goals in their last four on the road, including three in their latest foray away from the comforts of home. In addition, the visitors come here having scored four last time out.

Scoring goals is rarely a problem for Leipzig, although keeping them out often has been on the road. They’ve conceded nine in their last five on the road and are without a clean sheet during that time. On top of this, the visitors have managed to keep just three clean sheets away from home all season. Such a stat doesn’t exactly bode well ahead of a match against a Schalke side who’re known to excel on their own patch.

Although this hasn’t exactly been the ideal campaign for Schalke, they’re still a useful attacking unit and are no strangers to scoring goals on their own patch. Furthermore, Markus Weinzierl’s men should be suited by the almost guaranteed open nature of this contest. The hosts are currently on a good run at home as far as scoring goals go and have found the net in each of their last five Bundesliga matches at the Veltins Arena. However, defensively, they’ve not been so good and have conceded in three of their last five and in seven of their last ten.

Leipzig often entice their opponents into engaging in an attacking affair and this fixture is expected to be no different. ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in 67% of their away matches in the Bundesliga this season, while this bet has also won in eight of this pair’s last ten combined.

Additionally, second half goals have become commonplace for these two in recent times with at least two goals being scored after the break in eight of their last ten combined Bundesliga fixtures. In what is expected to be a goal-filled encounter, it would be no surprise if further goals were scored during the second 45.
