Having beaten this very opposition by four goals to two on Saturday evening, an in-form Mönchengladbach take on Schalke for the second time in five days, only this time they travel to Gelsenkirchen to do so.

It’s no secret that Gladbach suffered a poor start to the campaign before continuing in the same vein right up until December; however, things have since turned around and, with Dieter Hecking now at the helm, Borussia Mönchengladbach are once again a force to be reckoned with in Germany.

From a betting point of view, considering the visitors bagged four goals against this very opposition at the weekend, and could’ve quite easily had more, it’s appears as though they’ve been greatly underestimated here, even though they’re now playing away from home. Make no mistake about it, this Gladbach team are out to score goals and can do so against most teams. At odds of 19/10, ‘Gladbach to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ is an excellent bet.

As touched on above, the visitors were in fine form going forward when notching four against Schalke at the weekend and it would be no surprise if they enjoyed another fruitful evening in the goals department on Thursday. With 12 goals in their last four matches, including four on their last away outing in this competition, Hecking’s men have really hit their attacking-stride in recent weeks and should be in confident mood once again.

The hosts may well be feeling more positive about this match considering it’s on their own patch, but that’s pretty much all they’ve got to cling onto for confidence right now. Markus Weinzierl’s side come into this fixture in contrasting form having failed to win any of their last five matches, failing to keep a clean sheet in either. Schalke may have scored in four of those and did indeed enjoy the odd moment of joy going forward against this opposition at the weekend, but, defensively, they’ve looked all over the shop of late, conceding in each of their last five, shipping no less than seven in their last two.

At the weekend, Gladbach proved that they’ve got more than enough quality to really hurt this Schalke side and are fancied to inflict more pain here. Quite frankly, a price of 19/10 on Gladbach to notch a couple of times simply looks too big and is well worth taking advantage of ahead of this all-German last-16 tie.
