Russia v Wales. Thomas Giles’ betting tip
Russia’s 2-1 loss against Slovakia has put them in a perilous situation as, sitting bottom of Group B, only a win against Wales will give them any hope of qualification and even then they are relying on other results.
Leonid Slutsky’s side have looked poor throughout this European Championship campaign and they seem to look poor both going forward and in defence. Wales on the other hand have impressed in their first major tournament since 1958 with a win against Slovakia and an unlucky loss to neighbours England.
Chris Coleman’s team have a togetherness that almost no side in the tournament can match – especially not Russia – which means that any side feeling complacent in a match against the Red Dragons are likely to find themselves on the end of a shock defeat.
Form is not something that can be turned on and off like a tap, so, with that in mind you have to back Wales. As previously mentioned, Russia seem to have no method to their play whilst Wales have a structured game plan as well as a magician in Gareth Bale. Although Russia are favourites at 8/5, Wales know that a win will guarantee them a place in the next round and I cannot see passed them at 19/10.
