Neither of these sides have much left to play for with Rotherham United already destined for League One whilst Ipswich Town have survived the drop for another year.

Although they have still not won a game since 14th January, Rotherham have improved a bit since their relegation was confirmed as the shackles have come off.

The Millers’ goal-scoring exploits in the last few matches, four in their last three, are proof that they are now feeling very little pressure in their matches. However, they are still very dodgy at the back and have still not kept a clean sheet since 10th December. They have conceded an average of two goals per game in their last three but this is understandable given their new attacking intentions.

Paul Warne’s side managed to take a point in their last match at the New York Stadium against Birmingham City. In fact, they probably should have won it with Jerry Yates missing an open goal in the dying moments. Rotherham have struggled for goals at home in recent times with their one against Birmingham their first in four matches. However, with their new attacking impetus, maybe they can grab another one against Ipswich on Saturday.

Ipswich have gone on a great run at just the right time with three wins from their last four meaning they have pulled away from the drop-zone and are safe for another season. Fans are still unhappy with manager Mick McCarthy but you cannot argue with his record here given he has had no money to spend.

McCarthy is known as a defensive coach but, in fact, his side have been scoring a lot of goals recently – nine in their last four, including three against Newcastle United who have one of the best defensive records in the league. However, this change in approach has meant that the Ipswich are now a bit more open at the back, demonstrated by the fact they have not kept a clean sheet in their last three and just one in their last seven. Even that shutout came against Wigan who are the division’s second-lowest scorers.

Away form had not been great for the Tractor Boys in recent times, however, their last trip saw them take maximum points from Burton Albion to end a run of five away games without a win.

Ipswich are the favourites according to the bookmakers here but I am not wholly convinced. This game is a bit of a dead rubber for both sides so it will be interesting to see how much effort they put in, particularly Ipswich. With these two teams taking a more attacking approach in recent times,  we should see a couple of goals of here. ‘2-3 Total Goals’ looks a decent bet at 11/10.
