Having failed to win either of their last two fixtures, Rochdale have fallen behind in the race for the coveted play-offs; however, fortunately for them, on Tuesday night they’re presented with a home fixture against a team who’ve been dreadful on their travels this season and thus have the perfect opportunity to bounce back.

A home match against Port Vale really isn’t a daunting task, and, therefore, Rochdale – a team who’ve thrived at home so far this season, really ought to have enough about them to get back on track. The two bets that catch the eye are ‘Rochdale to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ and ‘Rochdale to Score in Both Halves’.

Playing at Spotland has really brought out the best in Keith Hill’s men this season, especially in an attacking sense. The hosts are scoring on average 2.10 goals at home and have notched no less than 42 goals altogether on their own patch. Whichever way you look at it, 42 goals in 20 matches is pretty impressive. Considering they face a Port Vale side who’ve found life very tough on the road, the home side should be backing themselves to cause their opponents a plethora of problems on Tuesday evening.

Rochdale’s form of late hasn’t exactly been amazing, but they’re unlikely to get more of a home banker in the fixtures that remain, while the fact that they’ve scored 14 goals in their last five home matches bodes well.

Playing away from home has definitely been Port Vale’s downfall this season, and, with this in mind, a match against the attacking might of Rochdale, isn’t exactly what the doctor ordered. Michael Brown’s men have struggled immensely to score goals – scored just 12 in 18 away matches – and have offered little resistance at the other end having shipped a total of 33. With no clean sheets in their last seven on the road, and with just four away all season, you have to fear for the visitors from a defensive point of view here, particularly when winning in high-scoring fashion appears to come easy to the hosts.

65% of the Dale’s overall home matches have seen at least three goals go in, while ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in 73% of their home victories (8/11). Furthermore, Rochdale have found the net either side of half time on 11 occasions at home during this campaign.

Both of these two still have plenty left to play for so we should see two teams having a real go, unfortunately for the visiting team, they’re likely to once again fall short in both the defensive and attacking departments against a home side who should simply have too much firepower.
