Promotion chasing Rochdale take on mid-table Oxford at Spotland Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Both teams will be looking to bounce back having gone down to narrow defeats last weekend.

Rochdale may have had their winning streak ended last weekend when losing by just a single goal away at Southend, but they were down to ten-men early on and were somewhat unlucky to lose having hung-on to what would have been a decent point in the circumstances until the dying seconds of the match. However, prior to that result they were looking a real force at this level and can get back on track in front of a home crowd.

The Dale have been one of the more exciting teams in League One this season, treating their fans to plenty of goals, particularly on their own patch. With this in mind, they’re fancied to go well at Spotland once again on Saturday and, therefore, ‘Rochdale to Win’ and ‘Rochdale to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ are two bets that are worth being on.

Having scored 28 goals in 13 home matches, Keith Hill’s team have really found their feet at Spotland this season. They’ve won ten of those fixtures and have scored at least twice on ten occasions also. In fact, it’s not just at home that Rochdale have thrived from a forward-thinking perspective – they’ve scored at least twice in seven of their last ten fixtures, four of which came on the road.

Oxford are by no means a poor side and have shown on occasions that they can compete with the better teams in this division, however, they’ve struggled to really get going on their travels, conceding a few too many goals. In 13 away matches, Michael Appleton’s side have conceded 19 goals away from home, shipping at least two on nine occasions. For punters seeking home goals, such defensive stats are very positive ahead of a match against a side who’re scoring an average of 2.15 goals at home this season.

In facing a team who’ve shown anything but their best form on the road in recent times, Rochdale can reaffirm the fact that they’re worthy of a place among the play-off candidates in League One and look a good bet to come out on top having found the net more than once.
