Having recorded pleasing victories last time out, both Sociedad and Eibar will be looking to continue their assault on the European places when they meet at Anoeta on Tuesday night.

Little Eibar, although they’re not so little in footballing terms these days, continue to rise up the table and are proving week in, week out that they’re capable of tussling with pretty much anyone in La Liga. Given that they’ve performed well for some time now, it’s surprising that the visitors are as big as they are in the betting ahead of this, especially since Sociedad haven’t exactly been at their best of late. At 5/2, backing Eibar on the ‘Draw No Bet’ market is the best way to play this one.

It’s no secret that Sociedad are often hard to get the better of at Anoeta, but their performances of late have left plenty to be desired. They scraped past an Osasuna side who’re practically relegated, before losing out to a Villarreal outfit who’ve been performing at less than full capacity for some time and, after having just two shots on target, were extremely luck to come away from Gran Canaria with all three points last time out. Against an Eibar side who’re flying high right now, the hosts, who’ll be without top scorer Willian José, could very easily come unstuck.

With just one defeat in their last six in all competitions, the visitors are looking in fine shape. José Luis Mendilibar’s side are scoring plenty of goals as well as keeping them out at the other end. In terms of style, they’re seemingly adaptable, carrying a significant threat both when playing a possession game and on the counter, while in Sergio Enrich they have a striker who’s very much in form.

Eibar, having notched 14 goals in their last five matches, have conceded just three times, keeping three clean sheets in the process. Quite frankly, it’s hard to find many faults in the visitors of late. They may have lost 2-0 against Sevilla in their last away match, but they held their own for large parts of the contest and were very much in the game. And it’s fair to say that Sevilla have been performing at a much higher level than Sociedad have in recent weeks.

Coming off the back of a convincing win against Málaga last time out, the visiting side are likely to be high on confidence and might just surprise a few in this all-Basque affair.
