A critical week ahead for Real Madrid

The Spanish Champions enter this match after a four-match winning streak. They are missing some important players through an injury like captain Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal, and Federico Valverde. Eden Hazard may be available after a lengthy absence.

Zinedine Zidane knows his team has a very important week ahead of them as they play Liverpool in both legs of the UCL quarterfinals and host Barcelona on Saturday in La Liga. These three matches might decide whether Real will have any chances of lifting a trophy this season.

Zidane’s team are unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions. Their last defeat was at home to Levante as Los Blancos have suffered in their last home matches but still managed to win. In their last UCL match at home, they beat Atalanta with Karim Benzema being on the scoresheet as he has been in Real’s last five matches.

Liverpool in a real test as they defend their title

It hasn’t been a good season in the Premier League for Liverpool this season but the Reds have been in great form in the Champions League as Jurgen Klopp’s men have shown that they are keen to defend their title having lost one of their eight matches and winning six in the UCL this season.

Klopp knows it’s not an easy task to play In Madrid but his team prepared in great fashion on Saturday beating Arsenal on the road 3-0 and playing some very impressive football. If the Reds can maintain that form in Madrid, they will be hard to beat.

Liverpool have won three of their four away matches in the UCL this season with impressive wins in Atalanta and Ajax. Klopp knows that the key to beat Real Madrid in this tie is to score in the 1st leg in Madrid, something they have done in all of their away matches in the UCL this season.

Key Stats

  • Real Madrid have won their last three home matches in the Champions League
  • Real Madrid have scored in 17 straight home matches in all competitions
  • Real Madrid have one clean sheet in six matches
  • Liverpool have on their last two away matches in the Champions League
  • Liverpool have scored in all four away matches of the UCL this season

Real Madrid vs Liverpool Prediction

The repeat of the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final when Real Madrid won their 13th title is the most attractive match in this season’s quarter-finals. Both teams finished top of their group in the group stages and won both their matches in the last round.

Real are always on a different level when they play in the UCL, while Liverpool have proved so far that they are worthy champions. It will be a close contest and we think Liverpool will cause many problems for Real Madrid if they put high-intensity pressure on the Real players.

As we saw in the stats both teams have scored in their matches in the UCL this season and we think that will be the case in this match as well.
