These two Championship sides have different objectives going into the end of the season with Reading looking to retain their play-off place whilst already-relegated Rotherham are simply playing for pride.

Reading have been on a very good run of late and have won four of their last five games. This means they are up in fourth place and six points ahead of seventh with four games to go.

Jaap Stam has turned his side into one of the most attacking teams in the division since taking the hot seat last summer and their record of 59 goals scored is the best of the four play-off teams. Additionally, they have found the back of the net ten times in their last five games. However, defensively, they are pretty ropey and their Goals Against stat (58) is the worst in the top nine. Furthermore, they have not kept a clean sheet in their last three, conceding 13 in the process. Although it must be noted that seven of those goals were in a poor loss away at Norwich City.

The Royals have been brilliant on home soil and have the joint second-best home record in the Championship with 47 points in 21 games. They are also undefeated in their last eight in all competitions at the Madejski Stadium.

Rotherham are already down but showed a bit of resilience on Good Friday to earn a 1-1 draw against struggling Birmingham City, their first point in ten matches.

Defence has of course been the Millers’ main problem this campaign and they have conceded 94 goals so far and are without a clean sheet in all competitions since 10th December 2016. Rotherham have improved in the final third of late with three goals in their last two matches, however, they still have the worst Goals For record in the division with 36.

That point against Birmingham City came at home for Paul Warne’s men but, although they have taken 94% of their overall points at the New York Stadium, they still have the worst home record in the league with just 17 points and no win in their last eight.

Reading should be coming out on top here no problem and, given their attacking prowess against a poor Rotherham back-line, I expect them to score a few goals. ‘Reading to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ is the bet to go for.
