Reading v Plymouth Argyle Betting Tip
These early rounds of the League Cup always provide a couple of shocks as teams in the higher divisions chop and change their line-ups in order to prioritise their league fixtures. This match at the Madjeski could be one of them.
Although Reading did beat Preston North End 1-0 in their season opener I am not sure that result will be repeated again on Tuesday. Despite the fact that Jaap Stam is experienced in the world of football, this job at Reading is his first managerial role and I am not sure how bothered he will be about the League Cup. I think he will prioritise progress in the Championship and put out a rather weak line-up which could contribute to their downfall here.
Plymouth Argyle had a good season last year until falling at the final hurdle in the League Two playoff final. This 2016/17 campaign has not started too well for the Pilgrims with their 3-0 home defeat to Luton Town. However, this means several players will have a lot to prove to manager Derek Adams to try and prize themselves into his thoughts for the next league game – this League Cup match is the perfect opportunity for them.
Overall I imagine Plymouth will be the hungrier of the two sides and the probable lack of home fans at the Madjeski will suit them.
Argyle to win is a very generous 4/1 or 9/4 to simply qualify (extra time and penalties) if you fancy something less risky.
