Champions League chasing Leipzig have recovered from a minor blip in good style having won both of their last two matches, scoring six goals in the process. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men are once again looking very strong and appear to have been presented with a good opportunity to record a third straight win against a Leverkusen side who’ve been well below par this season.

Although they’ve looked good in general during this campaign, playing on their own patch has certainly brought out the best in Leipzig and Leverkusen, who’ve disappointed time and time again this season, are fancied to struggle.

From a betting point of view, ‘RB Leipzig to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ and ‘RB Leipzig to Win’ are the two angles of attack ahead of this fixture.

At the Red Bull Arena, Leipzig have thrived in winning ten of their 13 Bundesliga matches, scoring an impressive 26 goals in the process. There was of course a few suggestions that the wheels could be coming off after a couple of poor results not that long ago, but the hosts have answered their critics in good fashion and, having thrashed Darmstadt 4-0 in front of a home crowd last weekend, can continue on the up.

As touched on above, goals have been part and parcel of Leipzig’s game at home over the course of the season. With 26 to their name on home soil, Hasenhüttl’s team have scored at least twice on nine occasions, considering Leverkusen have conceded two or more in six of their away matches, including both of their trips to face teams inside the top three, this bodes well.

Leverkusen are generally an attacking team, one that is capable of scoring goals of their own, but they really have been weak at the back this season and their forward-thinking style is likely to suit the hosts down to the ground. Leipzig have both pace and power in abundance in the final third and are no strangers to executing deadly counter-attacks.

The visitors may have got the better of an already relegated Darmstadt side during the week, but that was their first win in six Bundesliga matches and they weren’t convincing by any means. Defensively, Tayfun Korkut’s team have found life tough with just one clean sheet in their last seven, as well as just one in their last six on the road. In facing a menacing Leipzig forward-line here, things aren’t likely to get much better. At the other end, losing their most creative player (Hakan Çalhanoğlu) to suspension has been a big blow, while an injury to main-striker Javier Hernández hasn’t helped either.

All in all, a Leipzig team who’re very good going forward is fancied to have too much in the locker for a Leverkusen side who seem to be constantly faltering.
