Rangers with a big chance to advance
Boss Steven Gerard and Rangers fans will be delighted with their team’s performance so far this season. Topping the Scottish league by 20 points over arch-rivals Celtic without losing a game so far, winning their ECL group without any defeat, the Blues have a lot to play for.
In their group stage matches, Gerrard’s men had four wins and two draws on their way to the playoffs. They are unbeaten in 18 games in all competitions and look to go one further and advance to the quarter-finals.
In their last match against Slavia Prague, they came from behind and equalized through F. Helander and held on to the draw in spite of being dominated by the hosts throughout the match.
Slavia Prague feel capable of turning it around
Slavia Prague are undefeated this season in their domestic league in 23 matches. In the group stages of the Europa League, they finished second in Group C after four wins and two losses.
In the last round of the ECL, they got past Premier League side Leicester City after beating the English side away from home in the second leg 2-0 following a 0-0 draw at home. That proved that Slavia are a very tough side and cannot be counted out of this tie.
They were the better side in the first leg match against Rangers but couldn’t keep a clean sheet despite the visitors had just two shots on goal.
