QPR welcome Derby to Loftus Road on Wednesday night as both teams look for a victory that would be hugely beneficial. The hosts will be keen to put an end to their poor run (three defeats on the bounce) and move away from the relegation-zone, while the visitors are looking to continue their good spell and further cement their position among the play-off places.

In recent weeks, only one of these two teams have impressed. Steve McClaren’s Derby are in a rich vein of form right now and have won each of their last six matches (all-competitions). A match against a QPR side who’ve struggled lately presents an excellent opportunity for the visitors to extend their winning run to seven.

There are two bets that are worth being on ahead of this fixture, these are: ‘Derby to Win’ and ‘Derby to Score Over 1.5 Goals’.

Since re-joining the club back in October, although it took a short while to get things going, Steve McClaren has helped to turn Derby County’s form around. The Rams have lost just once in their last 11 league games, winning eight of those. They’ve started to concede far less goals (just four goals conceded in their last ten) and, as the weeks go by, they’re looking far more threatening going forward – 11 goals scored in their last five, compared with four in their previous five.

As for QPR, well, they are yet to really get going under new boss Ian Holloway and it’s feared that if they don’t get their act together soon then relegation could become a serious possibility for The Rs.

Right now the hosts seem to be having a hard time scoring goals, while they are also struggling to keep them out at the other end. They’ve kept no clean sheets in their last five overall and have kept just one in their last five at home. On top of this, they’ve scored four goals in their last five, conceding seven. Figures that, when compared with Derby’s 11 goals for and two conceded, don’t exactly measure up well.

Since being brought back as manager, Ian Holloway has overseen five league matches at Loftus Road and, despite seeing his side record two victories and a draw, he probably won’t be too pleased with how things have gone. In beating 10-man Norwich, QPR were hardly convincing, while their defeat against Wolves last time out didn’t paint them in a great light either. In addition, going away and losing to a team who’re seemingly cut adrift at the foot of the table last weekend certainly didn’t help matters and it’s fancied that confidence is pretty low in the QPR camp right now – not what you want ahead of welcoming a bang-in-form Derby side to Loftus Road.

In contrast, it’s hard to pick holes in Derby right now – they’re defending very well and look to be getting better and better in an attacking sense, while they come here off the back of an impressive 3-0 win last time out. If the visitors can ensure they keep things as tight as they usually do at the back then they probably won’t have to do too much to create chances in this match and they’re fancied to come out on top having notched a couple of goals.
