This match between Preston North End and Nottingham Forest could be the most entertaining of the three Championship matches on Wednesday evening.

Preston have looked pretty good in recent weeks and have only suffered one defeat in their last five matches. Overall they’ve lost just twice since mid-September, putting them 12th and just four points off the play-off spots which, with 23 games to go, isn’t the worst position to be.

The Lilywhites will feel confident that they can keep this good run going on Wednesday as they are currently on a three-match unbeaten run at Deepdale. Additionally, they have shown they are capable of winning games at home and recently went on a four-match winning streak.

Simon Grayson’s side are exciting to watch as they both score and concede a lot of goals. They have found the back of the net 27 times in 20 Championship matches, scoring in all but one of their last 12 league matches whilst they have conceded 25 and are without a clean sheet in three.

After an atrocious start to the season, Nottingham Forest went on a four-match winning streak before losing the East Midlands derby to Derby County on Sunday.

Like Preston, The Reds are great fun to watch as you are guaranteed goals. Their record 34 scored is the joint second-best in the Championship whilst their record of 36 conceded is the second worst in the league. Talk about being topsy-turvy. Of course this sort of record means that Philippe Montanier’s team find it difficult to put any sort of run together and so a play-off place, from which they are seven points away, is probably too much to ask.

Going to Preston will be a difficult task for Forest given their away form with The Reds having only won their first match on the road this season just under a month ago. Their points total on their travels is eight from a possible 33 which is a just above a very lowly 24%.

As stated throughout my preview, these two teams offer up plenty of goals at both ends. This of course makes the result quite hard to predict, but it means we’re looking at a fixture that makes for a good ‘Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals’ bet at 23/20.
