These two sides have been in relatively decent form of late with no defeats in their last two for Millwall and no defeats in their last five for Preston North End.

Preston showed fantastic character in their last match as they turned a 1-0 half time deficit into a 3-1 victory away at Birmingham City – costing Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp his job. North End are one of those sides that generally go under the radar and they will hope to do so again this season – they currently sit fourth in the Championship table.

Alex Neil’s side have been particularly good at the back this season and their Goals Against record of three is the joint-best in the Championship. However, in their last two matches, they have proved that they are also a threat in the final third with three goals scored in each of those two outings.

The Lilywhites have made Deepdale a real fortress this term with 10 points taken from a possible 12 – conceding just one goal in that time.

Millwall claimed the shock result of the Championship last weekend as they won 1-0 against top of the table Leeds United – this result has put the newly-promoted side five points clear of the relegation zone.

The Lions were known for their defensive solidity last season and at one point they went on a fantastic run of no goals conceded in nine consecutive matches in all competitions. Things have obviously changed a little this time around given their step up to a higher level, however, they are still pretty stable at the back with three clean sheets in their eight Championship games so far. In terms of the final third, Millwall have also been decent – scoring in all but one of their last five competitive matches.

Despite all these positive aspects for Millwall, their away form is a huge problem with Neil Harris’s side yet to win a competitive match on their travels this season.

Preston are the favourites for this match and, given Millwall’s wretched away form, I would certainly back the Lilywhites here. Preston North End to Win is surprisingly good value at a profitable 21/20.
