This League One clash is between two sides who are both likely to once again be playing in the division next season with relegation not threatening either them whilst play-off hopes have all but vanished.

After a run of three defeats on the spin, Peterborough have now gone on a three-match unbeaten run. Having said that, it must also be mentioned that they have won only one of those matches, although it was the last one so confidence should be relatively high.

Posh matches often contain goals at both ends of the pitch with the team having scored 55 goals and conceded 54 in 40 games. Additionally, they have scored six goals in their last four outings and their recent clean sheet against Gillingham was their first since 4th February.

Grant McCann’s side are certainly a mixed bag at home their last three results at the ABAX Stadium reading W,L,D. Interestingly, they have actually picked up more points on their travels than they have on home turf whilst their record of 29 conceded at home is the fourth-worst in the division.

Charlton’s own three-match unbeaten run came to an end last time out as they lost 2-1 away at league leaders Sheffield United despite taking the lead at Bramall Lane. This defeat meant that Charlton’s win-less run extended to three, putting them 16th in the table.

Defensive solidity is what the Addicks have based their campaign on and, with just 46 conceded in 39 league games, they have a better defensive record than a few of the play-off chasers. Unfortunately though, their ineffective front-line means they are unable to capitalise on their defensive strength in order to win games. Charlton have failed to find the back of the net more than once in their last three matches.

Karl Robinson’s men are on a rotten run away from home with three straight defeats whilst they have also failed to win on their travels in their last six matches, conceding an average of 2.16 goals per game – not a good statistic when heading to a Peterborough side who are more than capable of outscoring their opponents.

Although Peterborough have not been having a great time at home recently, given Charlton’s away record and their poor defence away from The Valley, the Posh can come out on top here. The price of 6/4 on a home win is worth taking advantage of.
