This is hardly one of the more exciting games with which to end the third round of fixtures for the Russian Premier League but it is an intriguing matchup all the same. It is a hugely important game for these two sides and they will both feel like anything less than three points is a bad result.

Newly-promoted Orenburg were resolute in their last match against last season’s champions CSKA Moscow and it took an 84th minute winner from Roman Eremenko for the Muscovites to squeeze three points out of the match. You could also argue that they were unlucky in their first match against the now highly rated Rostov where again it took a late Rostov goal to secure the points.

Although they lost these matches, confidence will be breeding throughout the squad, because if they can hold their own against the top side, why not do even better against the weaker teams?

Amkar are your typical RPL side – a conservative team who seem to thrive on defending – however, they are capable of picking up surprising points, as proved in the first two games of this season by drawing away at Rubin and beating Anzhi at home.

However, this match will require a different approach from Gadzhi Gadzhiyev’s side as, being the more experienced team, they will be expected to take the game to their opponents.

This fixture will be incredibly tight and I cannot see more than a single goal in it. I think Orenburg will come out on top purely based on the fact they are at home.

Robert Yevdokimov’s team to win by a margin of just one goal is valued at 3/1. A very good price for this type of bet in what will be a very tense match.
