Novak Djokovic with a chance for his 19th Grand Slam title

As we predicted in our preview of the semi-final match of Djokovic against Nadal, the Serb was very keen to beat Nadal and avenge for his loss in the final of the French Open last year. Novak was highly successful in his quest and now he has the chance to close the gap with Nadal and Federer in the total Grand Slam wins.

Djokovic started his match against Nadal poorly as the Spaniard rallied to a 5-0 lead in the first set. From then on, Novak changed his tactics. He became more patient and much more decisive in his groundstrokes.

World number one dominated the mid-length rallies, something which is usually controlled by Nadal. Overall the Spaniard won the short exchanges and Djokovic won the longer ones. The average number of rallies in the match was 5.3 and the Serb won 51.2% of the baseline points in the match.

Stefanos Tsitsipas with high hopes to win his first Grand Slam title

One of the best and most consistent players this year on clay Stefanos Tsistipas will hope to be on top form as he takes on the world’s number one Novak Djokovic to claim his first Grand Slam title of his career.

The Greek had to battle his way through his semi-final match in five sets against Alexander Zverev. Tsitsipas seemed to be cruising in the match as he won the first two sets. But a stubborn Zverev and won the next two sets after obliging Tsitsipas to be more on the defensive.

The fifth set saw Tsitsipas raising his form as he served like he did in the first set and won 83% of the points behind his first serve. The Greek also minimized his errors to just six. But the most important positive from this match for Tsitsipas is his ability to steady his ship after Zverev tied the score 2-2.

Key Stats

Novak Djokovic vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction

Novak Djokovic will fancy his chances to win his 19th Grand Slam title, after all, he beat the best player with the best record in the French Open. Novak showed great ability to come back in matches against Musetti and Nadal. He seems to have much better mental power this year.

Tsitsipas on the other hand is in great form and apart from his semi-final match against Zverev, he wasn’t totally challenged in the other matches. His only concern may be that he has lost all his three clay-court matches against Novak.

The best two players will meet in the final and we will definitely see one of the best finals in recent years. Tsitsipas needs to forget his record against Novak and keep on playing with great confidence as he has been playing.

Djokovic is the clear favorite to win the match with 1.30 odds. We will back the total games and sets to be played in the match.
