Having surprised promotion chasing Brighton with a confident attacking display at the weekend, Nottingham Forest finally picked up the sort of result that their forward efforts have deserved this season. In hosting a Brentford side who’ve found life on the road tough of late on Tuesday night, Gary Brazil’s side could hardly have asked for a better opportunity to continue their progression.

Although they’ve failed to win games on a regular basis, Forest haven’t exactly been lacking in the final third this season, particularly at home, and the Reds are expected to go well in that respect here. On this basis, ‘Nottingham Forest to Score Over 1.5 Goals’, at the eye-catching price of 29/20, is definitely one bet to go for.

With 30 goals to their name the City Ground, only four teams in the entire division have scored more in front of their own fans. With attacking midfielders such as Ben Osborn and Hildeberto Pereira, the Reds aren’t short of creativity, while in Britt Assombalonga they have a striker who certainly knows his way to goal. On top of this, January acquisitions Zach Clough and Ross McCormack have given Brazil further options. In front of a home crowd, things seem to have clicked into place lately with Forest winning four of their last five, scoring nine and conceding just three in the process.

Considering the host’s attacking exploits on home soil, it’s certainly not hard to envisage them enjoying themselves against a Brentford side who’ve been conceding a lot of goals of late, especially on the road. The visitors come into this fixture having picked the balk out of their own net on 11 occasions during their last five away from home. In addition, Dean Smith’s men have conceded at least twice eight times on their travels this season, including in three of their last five.

Given the fact that Forest found the net on three occasions against Brighton at the weekend, confidence is likely to be high in the home camp and they’re fancied to have the tools required to do some considerable damage to a Brentford rearguard that has been anything but difficult to breach in recent weeks.

A secondary bet that stands out here is ‘Over 2.5 Goals’. As goals go, these two rarely disappoint. On their day, Forest are certainly a force to be reckoned with from an attacking point of view, but are also susceptible to breaking down defensively – hence why they’re currently occupying 18th position. As for Brentford, well, the visitors are in much of the same boat – capable of scoring a few goals, but concede far too many, especially away from the comforts of home.

At least three match goals have been scored in four of both Brentford and Forest’s last five fixtures. The fact that ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in 63% of Nottingham Forest’s matches and in 56% of Brentford’s matches overall this season also bodes well. It would be no surprise at all if the fans at the City Ground were treated to another glut of goals on Tuesday night and, therefore, backing the selection above is well worthwhile.
