Norwich City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers predictions for Saturday’s Premier League fixture at Carrow Road. Can Dean Smith make it two wins out of two as new Norwich head coach? Read on for our free predictions and betting tips.

Norwich City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers key stats

  • Norwich are the lowest scorers in the league (seven), while also conceding the most goals (tied with Newcastle – 27).
  • However, five of these goals have come in their last three matches while gaining six out of a possible nine points.
  • Wolves, currently sixth in the league have scored just 12 goals but have also conceded the same amount, resulting in their matches averaging two goals per game.
  • Wolves’ matches have produced under 2.5 goals 75% of the time this season.

With signs of creativity back in the side will Norwich put together a run?

Out of the seven Premier League goals scored so far by Norwich, Teemu Pukki has scored four of them. With Norwich lacking any creativity so far, the fact he has scored only three less than Liverpool’s Sadio Mane is quite the feat.

Head Coach, Smith, reintroduced both Billy Gilmour and Todd Cantwell from exile to give both their first starts since September. This paid dividends – particularly in Gilmour’s case with him assisting Grant Hanley’s winner versus Southampton.

If Smith can get out of either Gilmour or Cantwell half of what he got out of Jack Grealish at Aston Villa, then it’s not unreasonable to think that Norwich could make things interesting at the bottom of the league.

Pukki proved last time he was in the Premier League that he can weigh in with goals even in a struggling team.

Wolves knocking at the door

Wolves bounced back from a loss before the international break to Crystal Palace by beating top four contenders, West Ham United 1-0. Raul Jimenez’s effort from outside of the box was enough to secure the three points in what many would have seen as a shock.

Wolves suddenly find themselves in sixth place, with only Chelsea (16) producing more points than Wolves (13) in the last six matches.

Wolves are grinding out the wins and keeping things relatively steady at the back, although the clean sheet against the Hammers was Wolves’ first in six matches.

Norwich City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers predictions

Smith introducing Gilmour and Cantwell into the Norwich starting line-up is a sign that Smith wants to use the creativity afforded to him rather than hoping results will come.

However, against a steady Wolves side currently grinding out results at the top end of the table, it will be tough to replicate last Saturday’s victory. However, we believe Smith will maintain an unbeaten start to his Norwich career with a draw.

Norwich struggle to score goals, Wolves struggle to score goals while also maintaining a decent defensive record. Wolves’ matches produce a league worst two goals per game, with under 2.5 happening 75% of the time. We recommend backing under 2.5 goals in the match.
