This League Two match sees bottom host top as Newport County welcome Doncaster Rovers to Rodney Parade.

Welsh side Newport County are rooted to the bottom of the Football League and are currently three points off safety. However, they do have a game in hand on their relegation rivals whilst they are also unbeaten in their last four matches following an abysmal run of eight consecutive league defeats.

Although they have the third-worst defensive record in the division and have kept just one clean sheet in that four-match unbeaten run. The Exiles are at least not conceding goals left, right and centre which means they are able to stay in games for longer and pick up decent results.

Unfortunately though, their attacking players have failed to capitalise on their improved defence, barring a recent win at home to Hartlepool, with just two goals in the three matches otherwise in their four-match unbeaten streak.

Home form has certainly been the problem for Graham Westley’s side and they have the second worst record in the league with just 10 points from 13 matches, conceding in 92% of them, failing to keep a clean sheet at Rodney Parade since 12th November. However, they are currently unbeaten in their last two on home soil so there are at least signs of improvement.

Even if the hosts are improving, Doncaster are flying high in League Two and are currently five points clear of second place and a huge 14 ahead of the play-off spots.

As usual with a Darren Ferguson side, Donny score plenty of goals and it is unsurprising that they are top of the League Two scoring charts with 59 in 29 matches, failing to find the back of the net on just one occasion in the league this season. Of course this very open style does mean they concede a few but who cares when you are doing so well?

Considering their superior form, alongside the way they’ve simply continued to score plenty of goals all season long, means Doncaster are hard to avoid in the betting here.

Quite simply, I can only see a win for visitors here, and quite a convincing at that, despite Newport’s recent upturn in fortunes. At 9/4, ‘Doncaster to Win -1 Handicap’ looks a great bet, especially since they’ve won by at least two goals in four of their last five matches.
