Newcastle are three points clear at the top of the Championship and nine points ahead of Huddersfield in 3rd place after a fantastic run which has seen them go unbeaten in their last 11 Championship matches. If they do not at the very least get automatic promotion this season then it will be an absolute catastrophe.

As you would expect with the team top of the table, the Toon Army have been fantastic in both boxes so far this campaign and top both the goalscoring and defensive charts with 69 for and just 29 against in 36 matches. This incredible form both in attack and defence does not look like slowing down any time soon.

Oddly, form at St James’s Park has actually been pretty poor this season and their record of 35 points in 17 home matches is only the seventh-best in the division. However, Rafa Benitez’s team are undefeated in their last seven in all competitions on home soil, scoring 17 and conceding just six – keeping three clean sheets in their last five.

Although Newcastle are deservedly grabbing the headlines, Fulham are on a great run themselves and, in terms of the last eight games, have the third-best record in the Championship having accumulated 17 points – just one fewer than Newcastle – having gone unbeaten in their last six. This means they are just five points off Sheffield Wednesday in 6th with a game in hand.

The Cottagers are certainly one of the more attacking sides in the league and have scored 60 goals in their 35 matches. However, there are question marks over the back-line and even relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic have conceded fewer than Slavisa Jokanovic’s side. Additionally, Fulham have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight in all competitions.

The Whites have been very good away from home and have the third-best away record in the division. However, things have not been going too well recently and they have only won one of their last three away from Craven Cottage, conceding four times in the process.

With these two sides having an attacking philosophy as well as their good form, this should be a fairly entertaining game. However, I expect Newcastle to triumph in the end, despite their less than impressive home form. The Toon have the better squad and can really turn on the style when they want. There should be goals here, and thus ‘Newcastle to Win and Over 2.5 Goals’, at 17/10, is a bet worth being on.
