Morecambe v Bournemouth Betting Tip
Two coastal towns go head-to-head in this League Cup clash. Morecambe have made a flying start in League Two whilst Bournemouth have suffered two defeats, putting them bottom of the Premier League table.
The Shrimps have one of the lowest budgets in the Football League yet still sit top of their division after four matches, despite losing their first fixture of the season. They beat Rotherham in a 5-4 thriller in the previous round of the League Cup but this match against Premier League opposition will be a totally different test for them.
Jim Bentley is unlikely to change his side with it being in such good form and those players will be determined to test themselves against top flight opposition.
Despite spending a large amount of money this summer, Eddie Howe’s Cherries currently sit bottom of the Premier League table with 0 points and a goal difference of -3. However, it must be noted that these losses have been against Manchester United and West Ham, two teams that will be fighting it out towards the top end of the season. We will only be able to judge Bournemouth properly when they come up against sides similar to themselves.
Both of these teams are very good going forward so we can expect an entertaining game at the Globe Arena.
For a game that is seen to be so one sided, goalscorers are usually a good option. However, I would advise against it here. We are not sure what kind of side Bournemouth will put out whilst Morecambe tend to share goals around the team with no player having scored more than one so far this season.
As previously mentioned, we are not sure what kind of team Bournemouth could put out and a long trip to the north west to face a confident Morecambe team is not ideal for the Premier League side.
Morecambe really will be at the races for this match and their confidence will be sky high. Whether Bournemouth will be able to match the desire the Shrimps are likely to show is questionable.
Why not go for a home qualification at 7/2? If it goes to extra time then I am not sure second string Bournemouth players, who are not fully match fit, will be able to handle that.
There is usually a shock involving a Premier League side and a lowly ranked Football League outfit at this stage of the competition and this could be it.
