Having secured a much needed victory away from home last time out, Gladbach will be presented with a good opportunity to put themselves right in the hunt for Europa League football when they host Augsburg on Saturday afternoon.

It’s been an up and down season for Dieter Hecking’s men, but, with just three games to go, they’re well and truly in with a shout of securing Europa League football and, having regained the winning thread last time out, can finally put together a decent run of results when it matters most. The bet that stands out is ‘Gladbach to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’.

The visitors do having plenty to play for themselves as they’re fighting to stay in the division, and they come here off the back of a big win last time out. However, if ever a team was gifted three points, it was Augsburg last weekend. Hamburg simply didn’t turn up on that occasion and thus Manuel Baum’s men didn’t need to do too much in order to score their four goals. Such a win will have filled them with confidence, but they aren’t likely to get an easy ride against a Gladbach side who’re fighting to book their place in Europe.

Gladbach’s victory last weekend ended their minor blip and they really need to kick-on now. Scoring goals isn’t often a problem for Hecking’s side, but keeping them out certainly is. However, even though they’re not great at the back, they ought to have enough about them to outscore their opponents here. After all, this side are no strangers to high-scoring encounters. Each of their last four Bundesliga matches have seen at least three goals go in, while ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in 55% of fixtures overall.

The hosts will also be boosted by the return of versatile wide-man Fabian Johnson – a player who has proven to be a key figure when on the pitch this season, especially when it comes to providing width and a consistent supply line from the flanks.

On the road, Augsburg have been poor this season and, although they’re likely to be buoyed by both their win last time out and the fact that Gladbach have conceded plenty of goals recently, they’re expected to come off second best here. With just 12 goals to their name on their travels during this campaign, Manuel Baum’s men have lacked firepower in a big way. On top of this, they’re without a clean sheet in nine away matches and have conceded a rather embarrassing 15 in their last five on the road.

This is a big game for both, but the home side are expected to have too much in their locker and are fancied to come out on the right side of yet another high-scoring encounter.
