Most people would not have predicted that either of these two teams would be in the Champions League semi-finals if asked at the start of the season. However, their performances have more than earned them the right to be here.

Out of these two sides, Monaco are certainly the biggest surprise package and their sensational form in Ligue 1 has transferred to Europe’s premier competition. They have won four out of their last five matches in all competitions.

The sheer number of goals that Leanardo Jardim’s side have been scoring this season is absolutely incredible and is no doubt the main reason why they are at the top of the French league. Monaco have scored 95 times in 34 matches this campaign, 23 more than Paris Saint-Germain in 2nd. They have also managed to find the back of the net plenty of times in the Champions League this season with 21. With such a Gung-Ho approach, Monaco’s defence is unsurprisingly a bit dodgy with no clean sheet in their last five in all competitions.

The Principality side have been very good on home soil in recent times with six wins from their last seven in all competitions, scoring 16 goals in the process. However, they have also failed to keep a clean sheet in that time. Champions League home form has also been very good for Monaco in the last couple of years with eight wins and one draw in their last nine at Stade Louis II.

Juventus put in an incredibly professional performance against Barcelona in the quarter-final to book their place in the last four. Unsurprisingly, they are well clear at the top of Serie A.

If you want an example of a team who know how to defend, Juventus should be the first name on your lips. They have kept five clean sheets in their last six matches, including two against the most feared attack in world football in the form of Barcelona. Furthermore, they have the lowest Goals Against total in Serie A – 22. However, as they proved in their first leg against Barcelona in a 3-0 victory, Juve have a huge threat going forward and are not a team that just defend and do nothing else.

Away form has been a bit problematic for Massimiliano Allegri’s team in the last few weeks with just one win in their last five on the road. Furthermore, they only have the second-best away record in Serie A with 33 points taken from 17 matches, Napoli are in first with 37 from 17. Having said that, Juve are undefeated in their last eight away matches in the league whilst they have also scored in each of their last 12 on the road in Serie A. Additionally, in terms of Champions League football, they really know how to get the job done with no defeats in their last five, winning four of them and keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Monaco are no doubt a threat going forward, however, we have seen Juventus deal with such threats before, even away from home, and I feel their professionalism and experience will see them get the job done in Monaco here. 6/4 on the away win is worth taking advantage of.
