Mansfield are one of League Two’s most in-form teams right now and they’re presented with a big chance to continue in the same vein when they play host to Accrington at Field Mill on Tuesday night.

Having walked all over a struggling Hartlepool team on Saturday, Mansfield find themselves facing another of League Two’s weaker sides here and will surely fancy their chances of making it two commanding victories in three days.

Given the way the home side are playing at the moment, they’re naturally the team to be behind here. There are two bets that catch the eye and these are: ‘Mansfield to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ and ‘Mansfield to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’.

Manager Steve Evans is certainly someone who has divided opinion during his time in the Football League, but he’s been doing a fine job at Mansfield since taking over in November. Although it took a while for things to pick up, Evans appears to be getting his ideas across loud and clear now as The Stags have lost just one of their last ten in all competitions.

Mansfield are playing good football right now, but that means little without the tangible reward of goals. Fortunately for the hosts, the opposition net is being found at regular intervals. Having scored at least twice in four of their last five, and in four of their last five at home, Mansfield are looking menacing going forward. Against an Accrington side who’re struggling to perform on the road, such form is expected to continue.

Away from home this season, Stanley have won just three matches and have lost eight of their other 11. What is perhaps more disappointing (if you’re an Accrington supporter that is) is that the visitors have scored just eight goals on their travels and have failed to find the net in no less than eight of their 14 away matches. Considering Mansfield are conceding on average less shots on target than any other team in this division, the visitors could quite easily fail to fire yet again.

Not only are John Coleman’s Accrington team finding it tough to hit the net on the road, they’re also struggling to prevent teams from finding theirs at the moment. They were soundly beating (2-0) by Portsmouth at the weekend and have now lost four of their last five on the road, conceding at least twice in three of those.

All in all, if Mansfield are capable of replicating their recent performances here it’s hard to see how they’d fail to record another convincing victory. On this basis, it’s well worth backing Steve Evans’ men to come out on top having found the net at least twice.
