Manchester City vs Chelsea: Predictions and Betting Tips
After so many failed attempts, City are on the verge of being crowned the winners of the Champions League for the first time in their history. Having invested many millions into the club, City’s owners will be anxious to win this tournament.
City have truly earnt their place in the final, having eliminated big teams such as BVB and PSG along the way.
City have conceded few goals in the competition so far. In the group stage they conceded only one goal and in the knockout stages, across six matches they conceded only three goals.
Chelsea have a great opportunity to win their second Champions League, nine years after their first. This will be their third final, having lost the 2008 final against Manchester United.
The arrival of Thomas Tuchel mid-season has had a hugely positive impact on the team, as Chelsea went from being a team struggling with their defence and reliant on the talent of individual players to a well-oiled machine, working well as a team.
Chelsea, like City, have conceded four goals – the difference being that Chelsea conceded two goals in the group stage but only two in the play-offs, making them one of the best defensive teams in the competition.
- In their three previous meetings this season, Chelsea have won two games and City one.
- City have scored 25 goals in 12 matches
- Chelsea have scored 21 goals in 12 matches
- City and Chelsea have each conceded only four goals in 12 matches
Manchester City vs Chelsea Predictions
As we can see in their stats, the teams are finely balanced. Analysing each team’s play style and their individual talents however, we believe City to be the best team in the world right now, and they also have the master of finals, Pep Guardiola, as their coach. This doesn’t mean that Chelsea can’t win. However, their attackers have been known to miss their targets so they will need to create plenty of opportunities to score and to improve their accuracy if they are to win it.
We don’t predict it will be a high-scoring final, as neither team will be taking many risks. The result may be decided by the narrowest of margins.
