Two of the competitions more attack-minded sides come together in a match that, with the forward-talent on show, should be an exciting one for the neutral.

Scoring plenty of goals is commonplace for these two teams and there’s no reason why this cannot continue to be the case when they face each other. It’s fair to say that both City and Monaco boast a number of exceptionally gifted forward-minded players and this is likely to be a tie where both defences are kept particularly busy.

From a betting point of view, goals appear to be a good focal point for this first-leg. At odds of 11/10, the bet that catches the eye is ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’.

It’s pretty clear that scoring goals is something that comes easy to both Guardiola and Jardim’s men, but conceding them isn’t exactly a foreign concept either. Man City have scored in all of their home fixtures this season, while Monaco have only failed to score in just two of the 18 competitive matches that they’ve played on the road.

Given the attacking style employed by both managers, it’s unsurprising that both teams often find themselves involved in high-scoring matches. This season, at least three match goals have been scored in 10 of City’s 16 home matches (all-competitions), including in four of the last five. On the other hand, an over ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ bet would’ve landed in 12 of Monaco’s 18 away fixtures this season.

These two also measure up nicely when it comes to ‘Both Teams to Score’ stats. Both teams have found the net in 12 of Man City’s 16 at home and in 13 of Monaco’s 18 on the road.

Aside from the relevant stats, there’s reason to believe that this match will pan out in a way that favours goal-scoring chances. Quite simply, neither of these two adopt a defensive style – City will always look to play on the front foot and have the tools to unlock any defence, while Monaco, who’ve scored 100 goals in all competitions so far this season, aren’t the sort of side to waste any time in getting the ball forward either.

Given the high-number of top-draw attacking players on show, coupled with the fact that these two have kept just one clean sheet between them in their last ten combined (respective home and away matches), then the stage looks set for goals all-round on Tuesday night.
