Malaga – Sporting Gijon. Alexander Vishnevskiy’s prediction
Malaga are strong in defence and weak in attack, that’s why we can try to go for unders here. They are the only team in La Liga who score no more than one goal and concede no more than one goal per game.
Malaga have 27-28 goal difference in 28 games. That poor shape can be explained by the serious injury of their goalkeeper Kameni.
So now Guillermo Ochoa, who was phenomenal at the last World Cup, will defend Malaga’s goal. His debut was not successful, but we all know how good he is. He should bring back the confidence.
The defensive line of Malaga is also strong, so they are unlikely to concede much. And they score a little even against the outsiders like Sporting Gijon. Their best two forwards – Cop and Santa Cruz – are injured now. So I see some value in going for under 2.5 goals here.
One more argument: Sporting had under 2.5 goals in six of the last seven away games. And we can’t see a lot of goals from Malaga at home – eight out of 13 games ended with less than three goals.
Malaga and Sporting Gijon scored just one goal in their previous game against each other earlier this season (0:1).
