Having secured a 1-0 victory away from home in the first-leg, Lyngby, who finished third in last season’s Danish Superliga, are in a strong position ahead of this second-leg. Failing to score at home in a two-legged European tie is often the catalyst for elimination and now the onus is very much on the Slovakian visitors to force the issue in this second fixture. However, as they’re playing away from home, that could be easier said than done.

Given the fact that they currently hold the lead thanks to an away-goal and the fact that they were capable of winning whilst keeping their opponents at bay in the first-leg, Lyngby are worthy favourites ahead of this clash and look a good bet to finish the job off.

In the first-leg, the Danish side impressed not just in winning but in keeping their opposition out for the entirety of the contest. Despite having less of the ball, a tactic that appeared to be purposefully deployed, Lyngby looked relatively comfortable as they limited Slovan to just four attempts on target. With this in mind, they’ll probably fancy their chances of a similar showing on their own patch. What’s more, David Nielsen’s men have an exceptional record on their own patch of late having won each of their last five on home soil. In addition, they’ve been beaten just once in their last ten (competitive) home fixtures. Add in the fact that Slovan’s form on the road is patchy at best and the hosts really do start to look a good bet here.

Despite enjoying the majority share in possession, as well as conjuring up more shots, in front of their own fans last week, Slovan offered little in the way of end product and found it very tough indeed to break down what was a well organised Lyngby outfit. With this performance in mind, it’s fairly difficult to imagine them causing much damage with their opponents now surrounded by the comforts of home. The visitors did enjoy a comfortable win on the road in the last round but that was against lesser opposition. Against a side who’ve kept four clean sheets in their last five matches, they’re expected to find life much harder, much as they did in the first-leg.

With their first-leg lead and that all important away-goal in the bag, Lyngby are fancied to put in another resolute performance and bide their time before striking a final blow in order to make it through to the next round of qualifying courtesy of another victory.
