This match sees title challenging Liverpool host Stoke City who, after a good run a few weeks ago, have suffered a bit of a slump.

Liverpool are currently in 2nd place in the Premier League, but a huge six points off top. However, to make things worse, by the time they reach the 27th and their match against Stoke, they could be as low as fourth and a humungous nine points from first place. With the title race Chelsea’s to lose, even at this relatively early stage of the season, each game is a must-win.

The Reds had experienced a bit of a downturn a couple of weeks ago and went two matches without victory, but they have since got back on track with two solid wins – both to nil.

Everybody knows that Liverpool are excellent going forward but have been dodgy at the back. However, the fact they have won their last two matches to nil, albeit against relatively weak attacks, shows that they do have the ability and nous to defend and keep clean sheets.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have turned Anfield into a fortress this season with no losses and have dropped points on home soil just twice. In fact, Liverpool have only lost twice at home during Klopp’s reign with the most recent coming all the way back on 17th January.

Stoke were a huge disappointment in their last match as they were 2-0 up against Leicester City, and a man up after Jamie Vardy’s red card, but conceded a late Daniel Amartey equaliser to take just a single point instead of all three. This result means that The Potters stretched their win-less run to three matches which places them down in 11th.

Goals are still a problem for Mark Hughes’s team with his side netting just 19 times in 17 games but their sold back-line means they tend to pick up more positive results than defeats. Although they will need to win more matches if they are to achieve their objectives this season.

It is common knowledge that Stoke’s strengths lie at their home ground of the Bet 365 Stadium, but, perhaps uncharacteristically, they’ve actually have done pretty well away from the Potteries lately and were on a four-match undefeated run until they unfortunately lost at Arsenal just over a fortnight ago. However, with Liverpool looking such a force at home, they could struggle here.

The bet to go with ahead of Tuesday’s action is ‘Liverpool to Score Over 2.5 Goals’ at 23/20. The Reds have the capability to score this many against any team, whilst Stoke aren’t defending as well as they previously have this season, especially on the road against the bigger teams. An impressive attacking performance from the reds is expected.
